Giovanni Dos Santos: "I've proved my worth"

Giovanni Dos Santos is adamant that he has proved his worth to Mexico as he arrived as a second-half substitute to score a brace against Gabon.

Mexico had struggled to find a way to score in their second Group B match at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. Dos Santos came off the bench to make all the difference, making the breakthrough after 63 minutes and killing the game off with an injury-time penalty.

"It is such a good feeling to be able to help the team today," said Dos Santos. "I think I showed what I'm capable of, and this is certainly the best way to go about getting a place in the starting XI."

Mexico's final group game is against Switzerland on Wednesday as they look to secure their place in the knockout stages.
