Mauricio Pochettino wary of Sheffield United

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino expects Sheffield United to defy their League One status and give Tottenham a run for their money in their League Cup tie.

Mauricio Pochettino has warned his Tottenham Hotspur troops that their League Cup semi-final opponents Sheffield United will be tricky.

Spurs thumped Newcastle United 4-0 at White Hart Lane tonight, before discovering that a two-legged clash with the Blades stands between them and Wembley.

The League One side dumped Southampton out of the competition on Tuesday night, and Pochettino says that complacency will not be an issue for his team.

"We have respect for Sheffield United - it is never easy," he told BBC Sport. "Yesterday they played very well and deserve to be in semi-final. We expect a tough game."

Chelsea face Liverpool - who beat Bournemouth 3-1 tonight - in the tournament's other last-four clash, with both games scheduled to take place in January.
