Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Southampton

Spurs injury, suspension list vs. Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to build on their memorable Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund when they return to domestic action away to Southampton on Saturday.

Effectively now out of the title race, Spurs are instead looking over their shoulders with only four points separating them from fifth place following a run of three Premier League games without defeat.

However, Mauricio Pochettino's side were hugely impressive over both legs to beat Dortmund 4-0 on aggregate and seal their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, completing the job with a smash-and-grab 1-0 win at the Westfalenstadion on Tuesday night.

Tottenham's attentions will now switch to St Mary's, and here Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news for the contest.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR'S INJURY LIST

Dele Alli

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: March 9

Alli is closing in on a return to action and could be in contention to feature this weekend after missing the last 10 games with a hamstring injury.

Harry Winks

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hip Possible return date: March 9

Winks was deemed fit enough to start against Dortmund following recent hip and groin problems, but he was forced off 10 minutes into the second half after suffering a recurrence of the same injury. The midfielder has played down the severity of it, but he remains a doubt for the trip to Southampton.

Kieran Trippier

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: March 9

Trippier was left out of the squad to face Borussia Dortmund due to a gluteal problem and will undergo a late fitness test to determine whether he is ready to return this weekend.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR'S SUSPENSION LIST

Spurs have no players suspended for this match.
