Tottenham injury, suspension news and return dates for Aston Villa: Richarlison, Van de Ven, Romero latest

How bad is Richarlison's blow? Spurs injury list for Aston Villa clash

Left to rue what could have been in the EFL Cup, Tottenham Hotspur seek to avoid a second elimination in the space of four days when they head to Aston Villa for Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round contest.

Ange Postecoglou's side travelled to Liverpool for Thursday's EFL Cup semi-final second leg with a 1-0 lead to protect from their opening battle, but the Reds produced a captivating comeback to advance to Wembley with a 4-1 aggregate success.

The Lilywhites are still fighting for glory on the FA Cup and Europa League fronts this season and beat Tamworth 3-0 in their opening game of the former competition, but the scoreline did not tell the full story whatsoever, as their non-league foes took them all the way to extra time.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Aston Villa, who battled past West Ham United 2-1 in round three.

Richarlison

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: Unknown

The increasingly injury-prone Richarlison was taken off in the first half of Thursday's loss to Liverpool with a calf injury, one that Postecoglou immediately admitted he was worried about, so the Brazilian will surely sit out Sunday's game.

Radu Dragusin

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Radu Dragusin's season is over owing to the ACL injury he sustained against Elfsborg in the Europa League, and the Romanian will soon begin the long road to recovery from surgery.

Dominic Solanke

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: February 22 (vs. Ipswich Town)

Dominic Solanke's knee problem is nowhere near as severe, and he appears to be ahead of schedule in his recovery; he was initially not expected back until March, but Postecoglou has now suggested that he could return before the end of the month.

Wilson Odobert

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

There was no timeframe on Wilson Odobert's recovery from a thigh operation for months, but the Frenchman is now confirmed to be targeting a return in mid-February. This game will come too soon, however.

Guglielmo Vicario

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Similarly, Guglielmo Vicario could be back in between the sticks at some point over the next couple of weeks, but the Italian will also be restricted to a watching brief against Aston Villa.

James Maddison

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

James Maddison is also part of the '10-day gang' - on January 31, Postecoglou named a group of injured players who were expected to return to action in 10 days' time, and the Englishman was one of them.

Brennan Johnson

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Brennan Johnson is in the exact same boat as Maddison, Vicario and Odobert as he closes in on a return from a calf problem, one that will still keep him out of Sunday's fixture.

Timo Werner

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Timo Werner is another member of the '10-day gang', but the RB Leipzig loanee's hamstring injury will almost certainly keep him out of the trip to Villa.

Destiny Udogie

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Again, Destiny Udogie was also given a 10-day timeframe by Postecoglou at the end of January, meaning that a comeback against Manchester United on February 16 is within the realm of possibility.

Cristian Romero

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: February 22 (vs. Ipswich Town)

Cristian Romero has been seen on the training pitches as he steps up his recovery from a thigh injury, but Postecoglou has conceded that the Argentine is only making slow progress, so he will not be fit to face Unai Emery's side either.

Micky van de Ven

Status: Out Type of injury: Fitness Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Manchester United)

Postecoglou is giving Micky van de Ven more time to regain fitness after his recent return from a hamstring injury against Elfsborg, and the Dutchman will not be risked for the fourth round.
