Tottenham Hotspur, Partizan ends goalless

Tottenham Hotspur have begun their Europa League Group C campaign with a goalless draw against Partizan in Belgrade.

The visitors almost took the lead inside the first minute when Harry Kane latched on to Jan Vertonghen's header inside the box, before firing a strike against the crossbar.

Midway through the first half Vladimir Volkov's long throw was not dealt with by Federico Fazio, and Hugo Lloris had to react quickly to block Danko Lazovic's strike.

Sasa Ilic was next to threaten for the hosts, but after being picked out inside the box, he could only fire a volley over the bar.

In the final minute of the first half Danilo Pantic saw his strike saved by Lloris following a quick break.

Both teams struggled to create chances after the break, with Ilic heading over for Partizan midway through the half, as the game finished level.
