Javi Martinez: 'Juan Mata absence shows quality'

Spain midfielder Javi Martinez has praised the quality of Vicente del Bosque's squad following the omission of Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata.

Mata, who has been in fine form for Chelsea this season, was overlooked for the latest Spain squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and France.

"That a player like Mata is absent shows how hard it is to get into the squad," Martinez told reporters.

Spain are the current European and world champions.
