How Spain could line up against Malta

Sports Mole takes a look at how Spain could line up in Tuesday's Euro 2020 qualifier with Malta.

Spain will be looking to move onto six points in Group F when they travel to Malta for their second Euro 2020 qualifier on Tuesday night.

La Roja beat Norway 2-1 on Saturday to open their campaign with a win, but it was far from a convincing performance from Luis Enrique's side.

A win, with a clean sheet and plenty of goals, will be the order of the day for Spain, who have been victorious in each of their last nine European championship qualification fixtures.

Tuesday night will be the eighth international meeting between the two teams. Spain have won each of the previous seven, including a 4-0 victory when they last locked horns in February 1997.

Enrique is expected to make changes from the team that started against Norway, and with that in mind, Sports Mole has taken a look at how the visitors could line up on Tuesday night.

POSS SPA XI vs. MAL

There is every chance that Enrique could decide to completely shuffle his pack, as the former Barcelona manager will feel confident that any XI he puts on the field will beat Malta.

The likes of David de Gea, Sergio Ramos, Jordi Alba and Inigo Martinez are expected to keep their spots, but Sergi Roberto, Saul Niguez and Sergio Canales are all pushing for positions in the team.

Iker Muniain is another who could feature in the final third, but Alvaro Morata is expected to keep his spot at the tip of the attack despite finding it difficult against Norway on Saturday night.

Jaime Mata, however, came off the bench against the Norwegians for his international debut and the 30-year-old, who has scored 13 times in 25 La Liga games for Getafe this season, is another option.

Marco Asensio and Sergio Busquets are amongst those who could drop out of the XI.
