Fernando Torres will start for Spain in tonight's Euro 2012 Group C encounter with the Republic of Ireland in Gdansk.

The Chelsea striker, who was left out of the starting XI for Sunday's 1-1 draw with Italy, will replace Cesc Fabregas in the only change for the reigning champions.

Meanwhile, Simon Cox has been drafted into the Irish side in place of Kevin Doyle, while Robbie Kean retains his berth in attack.

Spain: Casillas; Arbeloa, Pique, Ramos, Alba; Xavi, Busquets, Alonso; Silva, Torres, Iniesta

Republic of Ireland: Given; O'Shea, St.Ledger, Dunne, Ward; Duff, Andrews, Whelan, McGeady; Cox, Keane
