Report: Southampton set aside £50m for Quincy Promes, Guido Carrillo swoop

Saints make £50m Promes, Carrillo swoop?

Southampton have reportedly set aside £50m for a double January swoop of Quincy Promes and Guido Carrillo.

The south coast outfit are seeking reinforcements to aid their battle against Premier League relegation and have an extra £75m in their coffers from Virgil van Dijk's move to Liverpool.

Spartak Moscow winger Promes has netted 53 goals in 101 league appearances for the Russian giants and still has three years remaining on his contract.

Monaco striker Carrillo, meanwhile, has worked with Saints boss and fellow Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino in the past and is believed to be deemed the man to solve the team's problems up front.

According to The Telegraph, Southampton are in talks to recruit both players in deals worth a combined £50m, though Sky Sports News claims that an initial £17.6m bid for Carrillo has been turned down.

Saints currently sit 18th in the Premier League table ahead of their meeting with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
