Jay Rodriguez close to Southampton switch

Jay Rodriguez is reportedly close to completing his transfer from Burnley to Southampton.

Despite having a £7m offer for the striker accepted last week, the Saints were believed to be facing competition from Aston Villa for his signature.

However, Rodriguez has dismissed any further interest by agreeing a four-year contract with recently-promoted Southampton, according to talkSPORT.

He will now undergo a medical, with the deal expected to be concluded within the next 48 hours.

The 22-year-old has scored 41 goals in 128 outings for Burnley.
