Southampton will reportedly allow Jose Fonte to leave the club in January if an offer in excess of £5m is tabled.

Southampton will reportedly give Jose Fonte the green light to leave the club if a suitable offer is tabled in January.

The defender was linked to Everton and Manchester United in the summer transfer window following his Euro 2016 heroics in Portugal, but the Saints refused a move.

According to Portuguese website Maisfutebol, the club have now changed their stance and are willing to sell Fonte for figures exceeding €6m (£5m).

The 32-year-old, who joined the Hampshire club from Crystal Palace in 2010, has reportedly opted against penning fresh terms at St Mary's.

Fonte, who has started all but one of the Saints 14 Premier League games this season, has 18 months left on his current contract.
