Steven Davis demands Southampton response to Liverpool defeat

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis insists that his side have to bounce back from their crushing defeat to Liverpool against Aston Villa at St Mary's Stadium.

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has demanded that his side produce a response to their hammering at the hands of Liverpool against Aston Villa.

The Saints were dumped out of the Capital One Cup in the last eight in their crushing 6-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp's men at St Mary's Stadium.

Davis is adamant that Southampton need to bounce back at the first attempt in their match against struggling Villa.

He told the club's official website: "It's important we pick ourselves up now and hopefully get back to winning ways on Saturday and make sure we get a reaction and that's the most important thing.

"We don't want it to happen again. It's making sure it doesn't happen again and how you go about that is making sure we work harder."

Southampton take on Remi Garde's men at St Mary's on Saturday.
