Cedric Soares says that he will be sidelined for Southampton's "next few games" with a hamstring injury.

Southampton full-back Cedric Soares has ruled himself out of the club's "next few games" with a hamstring injury.

The Portugal Euro 2016 winner has already been troubled with an injury of this nature and was forced to sit out two matches in November.

The 26-year-old has now revealed that he will be absent from some of the Saints' festive fixtures after picking up an injury during the team's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

"Unfortunately, in the game against Chelsea, I suffered an injury that will keep me away from the next few games," Soares wrote on Instagram. "Thank you all for the messages and support."

Meanwhile, Ryan Bertrand is a doubt after limping off the pitch in Saturday's game against the Premier League champions.

Southampton sit 12th in the league table, three points above the relegation zone.
