Sheffield Wednesday release 11 out-of-contract players

Sheffield Wednesday release 11 of their out-of-contract players, but are pursuing new deals with five of them.

Championship side Sheffield Wednesday have announced the impending exits of 11 players who have reached the end of their contracts and will not be offered new deals.

Lewis Buxton, Giles Coke, Paul Corry, Rafael Floro, Dejan Kelhar, Gary Madine, Joe Mattock, Jacques Maghoma, Rhys McCabe, Matt Young and Kamil Zayatte are the players who will leave the club this summer.

"Releasing players is never an easy process because I have worked with these boys for some time," head coach Stuart Gray told the club website.

"They are good, honest professionals who have given me nothing but their full support since I took on the role of head coach."

Five other players whose contracts expire this summer - Chris Kirkland, Kieran Lee, Glenn Loovens, Chris Maguire and Jose Semedo - are currently in negotiations over new deals at Hillsborough.
