How Burnley could line up against Sheffield United

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Burnley could line up for Sunday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

Burnley could come into Sunday's Premier League clash away at basement side Sheffield United without first-choice goalkeeper Nick Pope, who has missed the last two matches with a knee issue.

Sean Dyche initially replaced Pope with Bailey Peacock-Farrell for their home game against Leeds United, but after he conceded four goals, the Northern Ireland international was dropped in place of Will Norris for the recent match against Liverpool at Turf Moor.

While they did lose that game 3-0, meaning they have shipped seven goals from their last two matches, the Clarets will still deploy the established pair of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski at the heart of the back four, as Kevin Long would be unlikely to break into the first team even if he was not out through injury.

Dyche also remains without winger Robbie Brady and centre-midfielder Dale Stephens, hugely limiting his options in the middle.

He should go with the familiar midfield four of Josh Brownhill, Jack Cork, Ashley Westwood and Dwight McNeil, who offers plenty of threat from the wide areas.

The line will be led by Chris Wood, who has netted five goals in his last five Premier League matches, including an eye-catching hat-trick in their impressive 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He should be supported by Matej Vydra, who has recently improved his standing in the squad with four consecutive starts before he was reduced to a substitute appearance against Liverpool as Dyche opted for a more conservative system in that match.

Burnley possible starting XI: Norris; Lowton, Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor; Brownhill, Cork, Westwood, McNeil; Vydra, Wood
