Nigel Clough pleased with Sheffield United "attitude"

Nigel Clough is pleased with Sheffield United's "effort" against Shrewsbury Town despite their 2-0 defeat to the Salop.

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough has insisted that he saw positive signs of improvement in his side's defeat to Shrewsbury Town.

The 47-year-old suffered his first loss as Blades boss on Saturday as his side went down 2-0 at New Meadow.

"I thought the attitude was excellent, the effort that went in," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "I thought we kept plugging away with 10 men at 1-0 down. We created chances.

"We saw a lot of good things out there. I said to George Long he's had two shots to save in the whole game. Even with 10 men we were in control at times and pressing for the equaliser until the second goal went in.

"We had a lot of possession in and around their penalty area but there was just a bit of quality lacking in the final third, the final delivery."

Febian Brandy was sent off for United 12 minutes into the second half for shoving Shrews substitute Connor Goldson in the face.
