Shanghai Shenhua boss Wu Jingui hits out at alleged racist abuse towards Demba Ba

Ba 'suffers racist abuse in CSL game'

Shanghai Shenhua manager Wu Jingui has alleged that Demba Ba was racially abused during a Chinese Super League game.

The former Newcastle United and Chelsea striker was involved in a heated exchange with Changchun Yatai defender Zhang Li in their 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Ba, 33, grabbed at his opponent while also motioning towards his skin to officials and other players.

"I learned that a Yatai player used insulting language toward [Ba]," Wu is quoted by BBC Sport as saying.

"Around the world, it has been stressed that there should be no insulting speech toward black athletes.

"The Chinese Super League has players of many different skin colours. We should respect our opponents and there should be no discrimination."

Ba, who has also played for West Ham United, rejoined Shenhua in June after leaving Turkish club Goztepe.
