Steven Fletcher will start for Scotland in tonight's World Cup qualifier against Wales, but Charlie Adam is named on the bench for the hosts at Hampden Park.

The game marks new manager Gordon Starchan's first competitive fixture in charge of the Tartan Army.

The two teams come into the match with their hopes of progressing from Group A all but over, although a win would give either nation a very slim chance of reaching the World Cup finals.

Allan McGregor is in goal for the Scots, while Grant Hanley makes only his fifth appearance for the side in defence.

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale has been passed fit and will start for Wales after struggling with a virus this week.

Scotland: McGregor; Hutton, Mulgrew, Hanley, Caldwell; Dorrans, Snodgrass, McArthur, Maloney, Burke; S Fletcher
Subs: Mackay-Steven, Whittaker, Webster, Adam, Naismith, Miller, Commons, Rhodes, Marshall, Bannan, Martin

Wales: Myhill; Gunter, Ricketts, Williams, Davies; Ramsey, Ledley, Collison, Bale; Robson-Kanu, Bellamy
