Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam "desperate" to star for Scotland

Charlie Adam has pleaded with Scotland manager Gordon Strachan to select him for their World Cup qualifier against England.

The 30-year-old, who won the last of his 26 caps in a friendly against Qatar in May of last year, starred for Stoke City in Monday's 3-1 win against Swansea City, his first start of the season.

Adam told talkSPORT: "I'm desperate to be a part of it. I want to get back in the Scotland set-up but there is only person that makes that choice and it's the manager.

"I haven't spoken to him since I last played. I have never had a conversation about why I was dropped or left out.

"We will see what happens. Performances like Monday will hopefully catch his eye and I will hopefully get back in."

Scotland have taken just four points from their opening three qualifiers.
