Gordon Strachan "proud" to be Scotland manager

Gordon Strachan says that managing Scotland has been a "fantastic experience", despite their failure to reach Euro 2016.

Gordon Strachan has expressed his pride at being the manager of Scotland, but has stopped short of committing his long-term future to the role.

The Scots ended their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with a 6-0 victory over Gibraltar, but it was not enough to help them qualify for the tournament.

However, despite failing to book their spot in France, Strachan admits that he is enjoying the experience, and will take his time in deciding if he will continue ahead of next year's World Cup qualifying campaign.

"I'm so proud to be the Scotland manager; it's a great, great job to have," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "There's disappointments along the way, that's for sure. But I've got to say it's been a fantastic experience.

"I'm still enjoying the evening; the players' performance; the fans' performance and I'm going to enjoy that for a bit before I start thinking about me."

Scotland finished fourth in their qualifying group, three points behind the Republic of Ireland.
