Mulgrew: 'ROI clash one of toughest'

Scotland international Charlie Mulgrew has admitted that Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifying clash with the Republic of Ireland represents one of the toughest games in Group D.

The versatile Celtic man will be part of Gordon Strachan's side that travels to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, with Scotland needing to start accumulating points in a group that also includes Germany and Poland.

"I saw Ireland's game against Poland and the crowd definitely played their part," said Mulgrew, according to The Scotsman.

"They really got behind the team in the second half and their players responded to that. So it's going to be a really difficult game on Saturday, one of the toughest in the group."

Scotland currently sit in fifth position in qualifying Group D, with eight points from five games.
