Lewis Holtby nearing Schalke extension

Germany international Lewis Holtby is reportedly closing in on a contract extension at Schalke 04.

The 22-year-old has started the Bundesliga season in fine form, netting three goals in seven games from the centre of midfield.

Holtby's contract expires at the end of this season and there has been talk linking him with a move to the Premier League.

However, German magazine Kicker have now reported that contract negotiations are about to be concluded.
