Sassuolo shade Sampdoria in seven-goal thriller

Sassuolo shade Samp in seven-goal thriller

Sassuolo have earned their second win of the season in some style, with Domenico Beradi scoring a hat-trick in a 4-3 success at Sampdoria.

Sampdoria went into the match just three points above the relegation zone but managed to take the lead on 19 minutes, with Nicola Pozzi finding the target after connecting with a diving header at the back post.

The Blucerchiati maintained that advantage heading into the break but were stunned at the start of the second half, conceding twice in the space of three minutes.

Berardi pounded on both occasions, with his second coming from the penalty spot after Andrea Costa had been sent off for a trip inside the area.

Antonio Floro Flores extended Sassuolo's lead soon after, surging forward before beating his marker and finishing neatly.

Ten-man Sampdoria then rallied in a thrilling finish to the match, as Eder pulled one back the hosts just moments after conceding.

With nine minutes to go, Lorenzo De Silvestri thought that he had earned the hosts an unlikely point after his persistence paid off when his rebound found the net.

There was still time for one more twist, though, as Sassuolo were awarded another penalty, with Shkodran Mustafi punished for a clumsy challenge in the area.

Berardi made no mistake in stoppage time, completing his hat-trick and a memorable away win for the promoted outfit.
