Salford City part company with Anthony Johnson, Bernard Morley

Salford City announce that they have parted company with management duo Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley by mutual consent.

Management duo Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have left Salford City by mutual consent.

Last month, Salford were confirmed as champions of the National League North, resulting in promotion to the National League for the first time in the club's history.

However, despite another successful campaign, the club have announced that there are "irreconcilable differences around personal terms relating to contract length and performance-related matters", leading to the exit of the duo with immediate effect.

Co-owner Gary Neville told the club's official website: "The last four seasons with the managers have been the most successful in the club's history and a huge part of that is down to Anthony and Bernard, so this announcement is regrettable.

"However after a meeting this morning between myself, senior management and the managers it was clear there were differences between us that could not be resolved and it was therefore decided to part ways, and whilst this is disappointing, it is the right decision for all concerned."

In three of their four years at the club, Johnson and Morley have guided Salford to promotion, with the only setback being a semi-final defeat in the National League North playoffs last season.
