O'Shea: 'Ireland expect tough England test'

John O'Shea has said that the Republic of Ireland are expecting a tough test from England in today's friendly match.

The Sunderland defender hopes that a win will give Ireland the confidence to beat Scotland in their crucial Euro 2016 qualifier next weekend.

"We want to get a result against England and we realise how difficult that would be because they've been playing very well. They've gone on a great run in their campaign and have some fantastic players," he told reporters.

"It will be great to test ourselves against them, but also to use get a fantastic workout for one or two players that need the game.

"Ultimately, it's a game against England. We want to get a good result and build confidence for the game against Scotland."

O'Shea has made 103 appearances for Ireland since making his debut in 2001.
