Stephen Quinn: 'Patience will be key against Gibraltar'

Quinn: 'Patience will be key'

Stephen Quinn has claimed that patience will be key for the Republic of Ireland in their Euro 2016 qualifying clash with Gibraltar on Saturday.

Martin O'Neill's side are fully expected to record a convincing win in Dublin, but Quinn believes that it will be important not to become frustrated if a breakthrough does not arrive early in the game.

"We have to be patient and the crowd have to be patient with us as well. We've watched the first half of Gibraltar's against Poland and they were quite rigid," the Hull City midfielder told reporters.

"They had a lot of bodies behind the ball, so I don't think we should get too frustrated in the first half because they kept Poland down to 1-0 at half-time and it looked like they were quite tough to break down."

Gibraltar would go on to lose 7-0 to Poland last month, while Ireland started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Georgia.
