O'Neill: 'We have to play with composure'

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill has insisted that his side have to control their emotions in their Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland.

O'Neill's men can leapfrog the Scots in Group D by taking all three points from the clash at the Aviva Stadium, which would put Ireland back into contention for qualification for the tournament next year.

The 63-year-old has admitted that he wants his team to play with passion, but has warned his players not to get too carried away in the match.

He told reporters: "I have never really understood the saying, 'don't play the occasion'. This is an occasion. It is there and you cannot deny that.

"You have to play with desire, but you have to be cool under pressure and eliminate silly mistakes. The less mistakes you make, the more composed you feel and the better you will perform."

Ireland take on Scotland in their match later today.
