Scotland's Mark McGhee: 'Ireland's Aiden McGeady wants revenge against us'

McGhee: 'McGeady wants revenge'

Scotland assistant manager Mark McGhee believes that the Republic of Ireland's Aiden McGeady will be seeking "revenge" when the two nations go head to head in this weekend's Euro 2016 qualifier.

McGeady, who was born in Scotland, was subjected to negative chanting by fans during November's 1-0 defeat to their Group D opponents at Hampden Park.

McGhee believes that the Everton winger's focus was on the Scots even during his nation's goalless draw with England in Dublin last weekend.

"If there was one thing that I took out of Ireland's game against England, it was McGeady's body language," The Express quotes McGhee as saying. "I thought it was excellent and I thought he looked right at it.

"I think he was preparing himself seriously for this game, so I think we can expect a big game out of him. He is someone we are going to have to handle. I think our fans gave him a hard time in the home game.

"He knows all our players and would have been hurt by [losing], so I think he is just looking for a wee bit of revenge."

Scotland are currently third in Group D, two points above Ireland.
