Keane to be dropped against Spain?

Republic of Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni may drop captain Robbie Keane for the crucial clash with Spain, according to the Irish Independent.

The Italian coach rigidly sticks to a 4-4-2 formation, but there is public fervour that star striker Robbie Keane should make way for the likes of Jon Walters up front.

Trapattoni has a full-strength squad to chose from, but will take his time before revealing his lineup for Thursday's game. Should Ireland fail to win, they be be eliminated from Euro 2012.

Robbie Keane is the all time record goalscorer for the Republic with 53 strikes, and believes that there is "no reason" why they can not beat the reigning champions.
