Richard Dunne reveals that the Republic of Ireland's exit from Euro 2012 has left him and the squad devastated.

Richard Dunne has revealed that he has been left heartbroken by the Republic of Ireland's exit from Euro 2012.

Defeats against Croatia and Spain have ended any chance the Irish had of getting through to the quarter-finals, regardless of what result they achieve against Italy on Monday evening.

Reflecting on recent results, Dunne has admitted that their early departure from the tournament has left the whole squad devastated.

"We're fans as well," Dunne said. "We wanted to do well but it's been very difficult for us. The disappointment is massive.

"It's heartbreaking. It's your dream to play in championships and do well and be brilliant but it's just not happened for us."

Ireland have conceded seven goals in their opening two matches.
