Report: Fabio Coentrao heading for Real Madrid extension

Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao will reportedly be offered a new long-term contract this summer.

The 26-year-old came close to joining Manchester United on loan in the January transfer window, only to see the move fall through at the final moment.

An injury to Marcelo has allowed the Portuguese a regular run in the Madrid XI in recent weeks, however, and according to El Confidencial, his performances have convinced Los Blancos to offer a new contract.

Juventus were also previously linked with the former Benfica full-back.
