Manchester United to hijack Arsenal's move for Real Madrid's Mesut Ozil?

Manchester United are reportedly in contention to sign Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil.

The German international is believed to be in advanced talks with Arsenal following reports that Madrid have agreed a fee in the region of £36m with the North London outfit.

However, according to Sky Sports News, it has since emerged that United have made contact with Ozil's agents over the player's possible switch to Old Trafford, as the Premier League champions continue to search for midfield options.

Reports in Spain claimed this morning that Ozil is keen to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite the club's willingness to sell him.
