Lyon 'to let Fekir leave in January'

Lyon will reportedly let captain Nabil Fekir leave the club during the January transfer window after failing to come to terms over a contract extension.

Club president Jean-Michel Aulas yesterday confirmed that Fekir had been given a deadline of January 1 to make a decision on his future amid fresh speculation linking him with a move away.

The 25-year-old was on the brink of joining Liverpool during the summer, only for the deal to break down at the 11th hour after complications with the medical.

Fekir's contract at Lyon expires in 2020, and L'Equipe reports that the Ligue 1 outfit now plan to cash in on the attacker before he enters the final year of his current deal.

Liverpool are no longer interested in the France international, but the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been linked with moves.

Lyon are Fekir's hometown club and he has gone on to make more than 150 appearances for the senior team across all competitions after coming through the youth ranks.
