Lopez wants Madrid stay

Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez has insisted that he wants to remain at the club next season.

The 31-year-old, who joined the capital outfit from Sevilla in January, has displaced Iker Casillas as the number one stopper at the Spanish side.

His performances this season have reportedly attracted the interest of a number of European clubs, but the Spaniard has rejected claims that he could seek pastures new.

"I've tried to take advantage of the chance as always. At Madrid it's difficult to be sad," he told reporters at a press conference.

"I've always tried to do things as well as possible. I've already said that every minute at Real Madrid is golden and that's what I want to do, take advantage of every opportunity I have to play.

"It's in my plans to continue. I think that competition between goalkeepers is positive."

Lopez began his professional career at Madrid.
