Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz has said that he is 'honoured' to wear the number seven shirt at the Bernabeu.
Mariano represented Madrid between 2011 and 2017 before joining Lyon, where he scored 21 times in all competitions during the 2017-18 campaign.
Los Blancos re-signed the striker at the end of last month, and he was handed the number seven shirt following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure to Juventus.
Mariano has also revealed that Sevilla wanted to sign him during the summer, but the attacker was only ever interested in returning to the Spanish capital.
"It is an honour for me to wear this shirt number at this club," Mariano told Cadena Cope. "I work every day to make my debut as soon as possible and now I feel fit and that I am in good condition, I am ready.
"My move was all very fast as you know. The name of Real Madrid makes me very excited because this is what I wanted. Sevilla were in talks with me but they know my team is Madrid, the club I love, and they understand this."
Mariano is yet to feature for Madrid since returning to the club.
