Marcelo has returned to Real Madrid after picking up a thigh injury during Brazil's 6-0 win over Australia on Saturday.
The left-back, who was substituted during the comprehensive victory, is now expected to miss Real Madrid's La Liga meeting with Villarreal at the weekend.
His return to his club was confirmed in a statement by the Brazilian football association on Sunday, meaning that he will also miss Tuesday's friendly against Portugal.
Marcelo has scored four goals in 27 games for his country.
