Geoffrey Kondogbia admits Real Madrid snub

Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia says that he met with some "very important people" at Real Madrid in 2013 before snubbing a switch.

Geoffrey Kondogbia has revealed that he snubbed a move to reigning European champions Real Madrid in favour of Monaco in summer 2013.

The French midfielder sealed a reported £18m move to the principality from Sevilla, but the 21-year-old says that he met with prominent figures at the Blancos before deciding against a move.

"It's true that I spoke with some people working there; very important people at the club," he told Canal +.

"There was a lot of contract but I was not close to signing.

"Could I go there some day? It's not a dream of mine, no. For the moment, I just want to focus on the present."

Carlo Ancelotti's side won the Champions League - their 10th European crown - last season.
