Real Madrid fume at England over 'pointless trip' as Los Blancos make Jude Bellingham 'decision'

'A pointless trip' - Real Madrid fume at England as Bellingham 'decision' is made

Real Madrid officials are reportedly unhappy with the English national team for calling Jude Bellingham into their squad for the March internationals.

Bellingham was out between the start of February and end of March due to a hamstring injury, only returning to action against Atletico Madrid on March 22.

The midfielder has not started a match since the end of January, but he was still selected in the England squad for their recent friendlies with Uruguay and Japan.

Bellingham did not feature in either game, with Three Lions head coach Thomas Tuchel revealing that playing the 22-year-old presented too much of a risk.

"We have all gained from him being part of it," Tuchel told BBC Sport. "He was excellent in training, but he was involved as a neutral player. He was involved in not the whole 100% of the training.

Bellingham has only just returned from a hamstring injury

"The injury is a muscle, it's a very particular one, and we absolutely don't want the re-injury in this moment of the season."

According to Marca, Real Madrid viewed it as a 'pointless trip' for Bellingham, with the Spanish giants struggling to understand why the midfielder needed to be in the squad.

The report claims that the trip 'raised more questions than answers' for the capital club, who are fighting for La Liga and Champions League glory late in the season.

Bellingham has had a frustrating campaign due to injury, only managing six goals and four assists in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Real Madrid will be 'cautious' when it comes to Bellingham

The Englishman missed the start of the season following a shoulder operation, and according to AS, Los Blancos are set to be very cautious when it comes to his fitness.

The report claims that the capital outfit are likely to select Bellingham on the bench for Saturday's La Liga clash with Mallorca and next week's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Bayern Munich, with the club believing that a measured approach is required.

Bellingham is set to be named in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, but his position in the starting XI is far from certain despite being one of his country's most talented players.
