Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Espanyol

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Espanyol.

Real Madrid will be looking to make it five La Liga victories in a row when they continue their 2019-20 campaign away to basement side Espanyol on Sunday night.

Madrid's excellent form since the restart has seen them move to the top of the table, although Barcelona will have the chance to reclaim first spot before Los Blancos take to the field in this game.

Zinedine Zidane's side have beaten Eibar, Valencia, Real Sociedad and Mallorca since returning to action earlier this month and will be confident of putting another victory on the board in this game.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's clash.

Luka Jovic

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

Jovic has been unavailable for selection due to the fracture on his right foot that he picked up during the lockdown period. The Serbian has now returned to training, though, and could be involved in the coming weeks.

Nacho

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: June 28 (vs. Espanyol)

Madrid revealed earlier this month that versatile defender Nacho had picked up a thigh injury during a training session. The capital giants did not mention a timeframe when they confirmed the Spaniard's problem, although he is back in training and has an outside chance of featuring this weekend.

Lucas Vazquez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Madrid will again be without the services of Vazquez on Sunday as the experienced attacker nurses a calf problem. The Spaniard is definitely out of this weekend's contest with Espanyol, and it is currently unclear when he might be able to return for the title challengers.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Luka Modric

Status: Out
Possible return date: July 2 (vs. Getafe)

Madrid will be without the services of experienced midfielder Modric on Sunday, with the Croatian suspended due to the booking that he picked up against Mallorca on Wednesday night.

Ferland Mendy

Status: Out
Possible return date: July 2 (vs. Getafe)

Like Modric, Mendy was booked in the second half of the two-goal success over Mallorca, and the France international will also be unavailable against the Catalan side as he serves a one-game ban.
