Ramos hoping to be involved for Spain

Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos is confident of overcoming a calf injury to feature for Spain in their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg.

The defender was substituted at the interval of Los Blancos' 5-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, with a calf problem later revealed by his club.

However, the 28-year-old has joined up with his national team and wants to play a part in the upcoming internationals.

"I'm going to have tests to see how I am. I'm optimistic and I always want to play, but it's up to the medics. I've missed very few games and if it's up to me, I'd always play," Inside Spanish Football quotes the experienced international as saying.

Spain face Slovakia on Thursday evening.
