Jesus Vallejo: 'We have to learn from Juventus scare'

Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo has said that his team "have to learn" from their scare against Juventus in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Los Blancos entered the match holding a 3-0 advantage from the first leg of their quarter-final in Turin, but Juventus hit back with three goals of their own to leave the tie level at 3-3 entering stoppage time at the end of the 90 minutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo sent Madrid into the final four, however, when he converted from the penalty spot after Medhi Benatia had felled Lucas Vazquez, with the aftermath seeing Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon receive a straight red card for dissent.

Vallejo deputised for the suspended Sergio Ramos at centre-back, and the 21-year-old has said that he was "neither happy nor unhappy" with his first ever Champions League performance.

"We have to learn from this experience but also we must be happy to be in the semi-finals," Vallejo told Cadena Copa. "I was neither happy nor unhappy with my own performance, it was a tough game and we suffered as a team.

"We now have to regain our focus and be totally prepared for our upcoming games, we must remain positive as we are now through another round. I have not yet seen the penalty, but Cristiano again stepped up and was decisive, as he always is."

Vallejo has made nine appearances for Madrid this season.
