Reading have emerged as the surprise contenders to sign Blackburn Rovers winger Junior Hoilett.

Despite Rovers' relegation to the Championship, the 21-year-old has attracted interest from a number of clubs due to his dynamic performances on the flanks at Ewood Park.

Royals boss Brian McDermott is now ready to give the Canadian the chance to stay in the Premier League, according to talkSPORT.

Hoilett signed his first professional contract with Blackburn in 2007 after four years in their youth academy.
