Reading to rival West Ham United for Modibo Maiga

Reading have reportedly joined the race for Sochaux's Modibo Maiga as they aim to bolster their strikeforce ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Royals are preparing a £4m bid as they look to rival West Ham United for the Mali international striker's signature, according to The Sun.

Reading are also believed to be in talks to sign Pavel Pogrebnyak.

The 28-year-old Russian forward scored six goals in 12 games during a loan spell with Fulham last season.
