Eight-man Yeovil hold on for draw

Yeovil Town have secured a valuable point against Reading in the Championship, despite having three men sent off in the second half.

The hosts were the stronger team in the opening stages, and Pavel Pogrebnyak had a volley blocked before Garath McCleary almost found Hal Robson-Kanu with a low cross.

Adam Le Fondre was then denied what appeared to be a certain goal by Shane Duffy's last-ditch tackle.

However, Yeovil shocked their opponents with the opening goal midway through the half. Luke Ayling's free kick was powered home via the head of defender Duffy.

Tom Lawrence's blast from 25 yards was also well saved by Alex McCarthy as the visitors looked for a second goal.

Reading struggled to build momentum after that, although Danny Williams did hit a speculative volley over the bar and Pogrebnyak's header was disallowed for offside.

Pressure from the home side at the start of the second half resulted in a succession of corners, but Yeovil stayed strong at the back.

A dramatic period of play followed after as Byron Webster was sent off for bringing down Royston Drenthe in the box. The referee awarded a penalty, but Le Fondre's spot kick was saved by Marek Stech.

However, the striker immediately made amends for his miss when his shot was scuffed in by Yeovil's Lawrence. Gary Johnson's side were then reduced to nine men when Joe Ralls scythed down McCleary and was shown a straight red.

Kieffer Moore became the third Yeovil player to be sent off as the away side's discipline problems continued. However, despite a late Reading onslaught, the visitors held on for a point.
