Sports Mole takes a look at the Championship clash between Reading and Ipswich Town at the Madejski Stadium.

Former Real Madrid and Everton winger Royston Drenthe could make his debut for Reading as they entertain Ipswich Town in their opening match of the new Championship season.

The Dutch international signed a two-year contract in June and is one of three new arrivals at the Madejski Stadium, along with Wayne Bridge and Danny Williams.

The Royals have beaten Mick McCarthy's men in their last six meetings, but the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager has been active during the transfer window, bolstering his squad with 10 new players.

Among the new faces in his squad is former Reading midfielder Jay Tabb, who left Berkshire in May after a four-year stay.

Possible lineups:

Reading: Federici; Gunter, Pearce, Mariappa, Bridge; Karacan, Guthrie, Robson-Kanu, Drenthe; Le Fondre, Pogrebnyak

Ipswich: Loach; Hewitt, Berra, Veseli, Cresswell; Anderson, Skuse, Tabb, Edwards; Murphy, McGoldrick

Sports Mole says: 2-1
