Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin has confirmed that he is keen to stay at the club and wants to resolve his ‘complicated situation’ at Ibrox.
Raskin has been the subject of much transfer speculation during the summer and new head coach Russell Martin recently admitted that the 24-year-old was unsettled by approaches made for his services.
Rangers’ No.43 was a standout performer for the Scottish giants last season, contributing with five goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances as a deep-lying midfielder across all competitions.
This term, Raskin was dropped for the first leg of a Champions League third-round qualifier against Viktoria Plzen amidst uncertainty over his future, before he was left out of Martin’s matchday squad for the goalless Old Firm draw with rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership before the international break.
Despite experiencing a disrupted start to the new campaign, Raskin was called up to the Belgium squad this month and he scored his first international in a thumping 6-0 win over Kazakhstan in 2026 World Cup qualifying on Sunday.
Raskin wants to resolve ‘complicated situation’ at Rangers
Raskin is now set to return to Ibrox at a time when speculation over his future continues to linger, even though the Scottish transfer window has closed.
While the transfer window in Turkey remains open until Friday, clubs in the Saudi Pro League have until September 23 to sign new players.
However, a transfer away from Rangers has been ruled out by Raskin, who ‘absolutely loves’ the Scottish club and is keen to hold clear the air talks with Martin upon his return from international duty.
Speaking to Dutch media outlet Voetbalkrant after representing Belgium on Sunday, Raskin said: "My situation at [Rangers] is complicated. I will return, work hard, and try to get playing time again.
Raskin rules out Rangers exit despite transfer speculation
"But it's not just up to me. I know this is an important year, and I absolutely want to be part of this campaign with Belgium.
"Football is simply a game of ups and downs. I absolutely love Rangers. I've had some great moments there and have a strong bond with the fans. I always try to give my all."
Raskin added: "A transfer? No, that's out of the question. I want to continue to resolve this at the club."
The midfielder’s decision to stay at Ibrox comes as a major boost for Rangers, who suffered a humiliating 9-1 aggregate loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League playoffs, forcing the club to drop down into the League Phase of the Europa League.
Raskin, who has two years remaining on his contract, could be available to play for Rangers in their next Scottish Premiership match against high-flying Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
