Rangers boss Mark Warburton: 'Last season totally irrelevant'

Warburton: 'Last season totally irrelevant'

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has dismissed his side's past slip-ups at Queen of the South as "totally irrelevant" ahead of this weekend's trip to Palmerston Park.

The Gers lost twice away to the Doonhamers last term, but the former Brentford boss has refused to watch replays of those defeats.

"Without being rude, last season is totally irrelevant. I don't mean any disrespect but it's not about last season or the year before that. It's about us here and how we do," he told reporters.

"Have I watched the games against Queens from last season back? No. For me there is no need. What am I looking back on? Right now it's about Rangers in the here and now. Our targets are very clear.

"It's another artificial surface on Sunday, a very good one I understand. At Alloa we dealt very well with it, the same on Wednesday night [against Airdrieonians]. We're looking forward to this next game."

Warburton has the chance to make it eight wins out of eight in charge when his side take on Queens, a feat no Rangers boss has achieved since Bill Struth in 1920.
