Rangers manager Mark Warburton has said that he is happy with his small Rangers squad and insisted that he prefers having a tight-knit group of players to choose from.
The Scottish Championship leaders brought in 11 players and allowed 19 to leave over the summer, but Warburton is adamant that he would rather have a situation where all of the players at his disposal are directly in his plans.
The former Brentford boss admitted that he might be taking a risk by not adding further new arrivals to his squad, but said that he is willing to gamble for the sake of ensuring his players keep their edge rather than have some who are left out every week.
"The worst thing you can do, I think, is to take numbers for numbers' sake and add bodies just for the sake of it," he told Sky Sports News. "I hear people say 'just in case' - that is an awful scenario for me.
"To have four, five, six players watching the coach disappear down the drive on a Friday afternoon and not being involved - all that creates is disappointment, upset and resentment.
"We have got a tight, lean squad - yes, we are maybe vulnerable to a bad spate of injuries but we work hard at what we do with the medical team and we are in good shape. If we needed more players, we would have got more players in."
The Glasgow club will attempt to extend the gap between themselves and Falkirk in the Scottish Championship when they host Raith on Saturday.
