McCoist hopes fans remember his efforts

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has said that he hopes that fans will remember him for doing all he could for the club during a period of instability at Ibrox.

McCoist recently announced his decision to step down as manager but will see out his contract for another year, with the coach suggesting that his legacy at the team is important to him.

"How people remember me means more to me than anything else," said McCoist, according to the The Telegraph.

"Everyone will have a different opinion but the only thing that matters is that the Rangers supporters feel that I did everything I could for them and for the club.

"I would hope that even the people who are justified in criticising me would appreciate that the mistakes I have made have been honest ones."

Rangers currently occupy second position in the Scottish Championship.
