QPR 'suspended from signing non-EU players due to Sandro work permit issue'

QPR 'suspended over Sandro issue'

Queens Park Rangers have reportedly been suspended from signing non-EU players while the Home Office try to solve a work permit issue involving Sandro.

The Brazilian, who is currently on holiday in his homeland, is at the centre of a newspaper report, which claims that the 26-year-old played the entire Premier League campaign without a work permit.

In an attempt to clarify the situation, QPR released a statement, which read: "The club is aware of today's story in The Sun newspaper regarding Sandro and the Home Office.

"Whilst the club is in dialogue with the Home Office in a bid to resolve the matter, it is not in a position to comment further at this time. However, the club can clarify that Sandro is currently on holiday in Brazil - but wasn't deported as suggested in the article. The club will be making no further comment."

According to Sky Sports News, while the Home Office continue to investigate, the newly-demoted Championship club have had their licence to sign non-EU players suspended.

Sandro joined QPR from Tottenham Hotspur last year.
